Final Logo

When I was just a small child, my mother and I had a hobby of making greeting cards.  On the backside of each hand made card, we put our initials.  The idea for my logo was sparked by this greeting card branding of my younger days.  Since my blog is all about me, I decided that my logo should incorporate my name.  At first glance, my logo has a visible ‘W’ and ‘T’.  However, I hid the letter ‘L’ in the logo by using the right vertical of my ‘W’ and the horizontal top of my ‘T’.  With WLT all strategically meshed together, it forms my initials.  Next, I decided to use the gradient technique for coloring within the letters.  I decided to use my favorite colors.  My favorite color is pink, so naturally, most of the color within my logo is pink.  I also used the colors blue and yellow which are also some of my favorites.  I decided to put the yellow coloring next to the pink because pink is very similar to purple and purple and yellow are complementary colors, so they look very nice together.  I thought that to clarify my design, I needed to provide the rest of the letters to my name.  So, on the right of all three initials, I finished spelling out my name.  I made several changes to my final logo from the draft.  One of these changes was that I was able to get rid of the cross hatches within my letters so the logo as a whole flowed better together.  I also created a shadow behind where I spelled out my last name.  I did this because the peer reviews that I read all mentioned something about making the words pop more.  I thought that by adding a shadow and by changing the font, the words look a lot more prominent and more fluid within the logo.  Another change I made to my final logo was to add a soft gradient hue behind the logo just to make it look like it was all one piece.  I decided to make the gradient with a pink hue and made the opacity only 30%.  I really believe that every aspect of my logo expresses some sort of meaning and can directly relate back to the main topic of my blog, which is all about me.

Name-logo

The inspiration for my name logo came from when I was a little girl and my mother and I had a little greeting card hobby.  On the backs of all of the greeting cards we put this little symbol so people knew that it was a hand crafted card made either by my mother or myself.  The W, L and T all have specific meanings.  The W stands for Whitney, my first name, the L stands for my middle name Lea and the T, and you guessed it, stands for my last name Tinjum.  I really liked the bunny tutorial in one of our previous class assignments and how it dealt with changing the gradients n a shape.  I really wanted to incorporate that method into the design of my logo.  I use a variety of colors, mostly pink, yellow and sky blue because those are my three favorite colors.  Pink is by far my most favorite color so I decided to do most of the coloring in some sort of pink shade.  I didn’t’ really watch any tutorials online on how to construct my logo.  However I did browse through some pictures of certain examples, alas I didn’t use their logo ideas in the construction of my own logo.  One thing that I will need to find out how to fix is how to get the lines out of the individual letters.  Or perhaps I could incorporate the lines and input a sort of design inside of the letters.  On the final, I will definitely make some improvements. The purpose of my logo is to attract the eye and have people interested in what ever it represents.  I tried to create it while using a good balance of shape, texture and other eye appealing techniques to really intrigue my audience.

Final Graphic Collage

In this post, I decided to express and share with you about a facet of my life that is very important to me.  I love animals.  I always have and always will.  Even before I was born, my parents had horses and other critters on our small hobby farm.  So naturally, I have grown up around animals my whole life.  Horses, cats, chickens, dogs, fish, salamanders and cows were all animals that I have been lucky enough to spend my childhood around.  However, dogs are my favorite animal, and I can’t help but have a soft spot for them.  Right before coming to college, my family and I had to put down our yellow lab of 12 years because of cancer.  That was one of the saddest days of my life.  I plan on buying a Golden doodle in May of this year to be a companion for me.  And this is why I chose to do my collage on dogs.  Not only are they my favorite animal, but I have been doing a lot of research on dog breeds lately and thought that it would be a great topic!  In this collage, I included three puppy pictures.  The main background picture is of two German shepherd puppies.  The second picture is of an English bulldog puppy and the third is of a golden retriever puppy.  I decided to make the German shepherd picture the background because it was my favorite picture.  I layered the other two pictures on top of the German shepherd picture to create a collage effect.  I also changed the shape of the second and third pictures to make it more visually appealing.  I added some text to the collage.  I did this because I wanted to create a central theme for my collage pictures to look and work well together.  I also added another picture of a heart.  I thought that it was a cute idea, and it added more visual stimulus to the collage.  To tie everything together, I added a pink haze around the outside of the whole collage to make everything look nice, but I was careful to not get the pink haze overlapping the shadows that I added to the two small puppy pictures.
