In this post, I decided to express and share with you about a facet of my life that is very important to me. I love animals. I always have and always will. Even before I was born, my parents had horses and other critters on our small hobby farm. So naturally, I have grown up around animals my whole life. Horses, cats, chickens, dogs, fish, salamanders and cows were all animals that I have been lucky enough to spend my childhood around. However, dogs are my favorite animal, and I can’t help but have a soft spot for them. Right before coming to college, my family and I had to put down our yellow lab of 12 years because of cancer. That was one of the saddest days of my life. I plan on buying a Golden doodle in May of this year to be a companion for me. And this is why I chose to do my collage on dogs. Not only are they my favorite animal, but I have been doing a lot of research on dog breeds lately and thought that it would be a great topic! In this collage, I included three puppy pictures. The main background picture is of two German shepherd puppies. The second picture is of an English bulldog puppy and the third is of a golden retriever puppy. I decided to make the German shepherd picture the background because it was my favorite picture. I layered the other two pictures on top of the German shepherd picture to create a collage effect. I also changed the shape of the second and third pictures to make it more visually appealing. I didn’t do a whole lot of color changes. However I did end up lightening the English bulldog puppy picture a little bit and also added more red coloring to the German Shepherd picture. I hope that my puppy collage makes your day a little better, and try not to be affected by their cuteness too much!

I’m not entirely sure if I’m completing this assignment correctly or leaving this comment in the correct spot, but I’ll give it a shot, I think this is right! Anyways, on my collage you might notice that I didn’t add a description of what the picture meant, (I didn’t know we were supposed to, oops!!) but I liked how you left a clear description on what your collage meant and why you chose the theme you did. I’m a dog lover myself!! So this was just super cute, I really like it. It also seems like you have a good handle on the photoshop aspect of the collage which is great. It took me a while to get it but now I literally love it! Anyways, good collage I like it and the in depth description. You also did well in adding the sites for your pictures since they weren’t your own. Great job!

Your collage is so adorable! I also have lots of love for the animals. However, I do have a few suggestions that I hope you will consider. First, I would love to see any pictures that you had taken yourself. Are there any pictures you took of your late yellow lab? I feel like it would be a lot more personal and powerful if you were to use pictures you have taken yourself rather than Google images. Second, maybe a different background color than white. I want to see as much of your personality as possible through this collage. As far as the editing, I really liked what you did with the German Shepherds. But I think it would be cool for you to mix up how you edit each picture. You really want to find something in each picture to use to make them pop! Other than that, very cute! I can’t wait to see how the finished product will look.
Hi Whitney! My name is Caitlin, I am in your critique group. The pictures you chose are very cute! I like how you erased the background from the german shepherd picture. The cut out style picture is a nice addition to your collage! To improve your draft, I suggest putting a background color or pattern behind the pictures and utilizing more of the PhotoShop tools. For example, add borders or a drop shadow. It will help your pictures stand out more. Looks great!
Alright! For my own critique, I would have to say that I need to spend more time meshing and creating more unison within my collage. From looking at my other group member’s collages, they seem like they really are good with photoshop. This unit is my first time ever working with this program, so as you can tell I have a lot to learn and improve on! I also want to maybe add some sort of background picture or maybe just add another puppy picture. I would do this just so their would be more unison to the piece. I am excited to work on my collage and come up with a creation that I am proud of!
